Broad-necked Root Borer

Prionus laticollis

Tuscarora
York, PA

This beetle was huge! He landed on my arm which was a bit creepy. Fortunately, he didn't bite me so he lived to see another day. I wouldn't have intentionally hurt it but I may have reacted rather violently if he had decided to take a bite!

Fantastic well timed shot with wings open. I would have been reacted same way :)

Great shot! You sure caught it at the right moment. And the teeth on his antennae look sharper than the teeth on my handsaw!!

Great shot Ann - I would have had the same reaction - a bit creepy - but a really cool looking bug! V
