Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park is located in California. The Colorado Desert comprises the eastern lower part of the Park; to the west is the higher and wetter Mojave Desert.

Joshua trees, yucca brevifolia, are found only in North America in the states of California, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada, mostly in the Mojave Desert between 2000 and 6000 feet elevation. They can grow up to 40 feet high and live for 200 or more years.

The Park has a fascinating geologic landscape of rugged mountains of twisted rock, rock piles of fantastic shapes which are a draw for rock climbers from around the world. Fascinating gallery! Joshua Tree is a place I'd love to visit. The overcast sky and subdued but warm lighting creates a strange, slightly otherworldly atmosphere that I find very appealing. V!

What I like here is the "monochrome" feeling, mostly yellow orange, that gives a unity to the gallery.

Wonderful pictures, Ron. Joshua Tree is such a uniqe place and you've captured it well. I hope to return someday when I can spend more time there.
