Gila monsters are one of only two poisonous lizards in the world (the other is the Mexican beaded lizard). It is the largest lizard in the US, growing up to two feet (61cm) in length and weighing 3-5 pounds (1.4-2.3 kg). It has a spotted pattern of black, pink, orange and yellow scales.
