Water Fountains

There are numerous different sources of water here in the Azores but the ubiquitous faucets can be located in the center of a village or a city or in a private garden. They provide water for livestock, people and flowers. The design varies greatly.

What is striking to me about these fountains is how most of them appear to be a natural extension of the surrounding landscape and architecture. There is an artistic component to their design, while some even have a sacred feel to them. This says a lot about the people who designed them. A very well photographed gallery Roland!
