Ophrys apifera. mutant side.

Ophrys apifera Huds., Fl. Angl.: 340 (1762).

Province of Noord Holland, Netherlands.

This odd mutant makes flowers that are much larger than a normal bee orchid. It's lip has no side lobes, is very rounded and ends in a sharp angled point. It's sepals are much broader than normal which enhances its beauty even more. It is not certain in which group it belongs, but it is a stable mutant (every flower is the same)and does not grow together with other mutant forms.
