Singapore Botanic Gardens

Common name: Walker's Cattleya, Type: Minas Gerias. Plant: epiphytic or lithophytic, creeping rhizome with jointed, bulbous pseudobulbs (2x15cm), 1-2 leathery elliptic leaves at apex. Flowers: from a new growth (stem) from the rhizome or from the apex of the pseudobulbs, 1-3 bright rose-purple flowers (10cm), 3-lobed lip is shovel-shaped, yellow base, lateral lobes only partially incurved, fragrant. Bloomtimes: freeflowering around the year, but peak in May and December Habitat: limestone cliffs, rocks along rivers, sea-level to 2000m. Distribution Range: Brazil (Goiás, Federal District, Bahia, Minas Gerias, São Paolo).
