Unfortunately it was a rather foggy morning and at this time (approx 11am) the fog had been reduced to a mist. We were there on a friday, where the Taj Mahal is always closed. So imagine how happy we were to arrive at Agra after 5 hours on the train from Delhi - especially since we had had the concierge at one of the finer hotels in Delhi arrange the trip for us. He forgot it was closed on friday, he said. Well, when we called him up on on the phone from Agra, the first thing he told us was that he didn't understand why we were there on a friday, since it was always closed on a friday. In other words, check your own travel arrangements in India - DON'T put your travels in the hands of those who are supposed to know.
