Masjed-e Vakil, Shiraz

The Vakil Mosque in Shiraz was built between 1751 and 1773, during the Zand era.
The word Vakil means Regent referring to Karim Khan, the founder of the Zand Dynasty.
The iwans and court are decorated with typical haft rangi tiles (typical of Shiraz during the 18th century).
The night prayer hall (Shabestan), contains 48 pillars carved in spirals, each with a capital of acanthus leaves.
