June 10, 1942 Manzanar, frozen in time

Manzanar Internment Camp, Eastern Sierra Nevada, California

One last one from the Manzanar Internment Camp. The Japanese were often
given jobs such as landscaping, trying to enhance the looks of the camp for
morale purposes. They would build gardens, ponds, orchards, etc. Sometimes,
without permission, or in danger of repercussions, they would put either
there names or dates, such as this, into the wet concrete to ensure there
place in history. When visiting there with my young sons in 1993, this was
a very chilling reminder of a very dark time in American History.
May we never forget these brave and forgotten Americans!
