The old sawmill at the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum where Gregoire with his enviable beard hangs out giving demonstrations to visitors. The saw mill is powered by an old one cylinder diesel engine that causes a small earthquake when it runs. A series of belts and wheels connect to the 3 foot tall saw blade and also operate a feeder mechanism that pulls the logs (and hopefully only the logs!) through. The finished boards are then piled up out back on a trolley and used for repairs and other projects throughout the museum, like the fence in the foreground in the photo below.
Fantastic series of shots. Very, very nicely done. I have only been here in autumn when things were mostly closed. This shows a livelier and more intriguing scene.
