Osprey Chick

The Innis Point Bird Observatory held their Osprey banding session this morning. I was there along with many other interested onlookers as the Osprey platform was lowered and the two Osprey chicks, one older and larger and the other smaller, were removed and banded.

In the meantime, the parent Ospreys were circling overhead looking down at us, wondering what was going on...

Terrific photos of this banding activity Chris. Must be a challenge to get the young birds without being attacked.

Fascinating series Chris. I think this banding session would be a bit more "challenging" than the Purple Martin banding. Those talons and beaks look pretty intimidating.
