Pinyon Pine

Capital Reef National Park

This is a Pinyon Pine and incorrectly had named it a Utah Juniper.
I understand they are very slow growing in this area of the country,
about a foot every 10-40 years or so.

Beautiful photo. However, the tree is actually a pinyon pine.

Grown under tuff conditions, trees as well as human beings are often more beautiful and interesting than the rest of us. v.
