While in California this past September, we spent a few days in Monterey. Monterey and the surrounding area is very beautiful and provided a never ending source of photographic material, great
food and wine. One day, late morning, we visited the Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo, also
known simply as the Carmel Mission. This is a popular tourist destination, but lucky for us it
wasn't too crowded when we were there. However, they were busy preparing for the 'Taste of Carmel'
that evening and we were told the mission would be closing early at 3pm to put final touches on the
preparations.
This shot was taken from the court yard, but because of the many tables and workers setting up for
that evening's event I couldn't get the shot I'd envisioned which placed the cross alongside the bell
tower. This is a crop of the shot I could get and approximates the composition I'd envisioned.
Image was cropped then converted to B&W and perspective correction done in PS to correct the lean of
the tower. Mat and frame courtesy Fred Miranda plug-in.
Comments and feedback encouraged and always appreciated.
