End of the Line

Sandon, British Columbia

Two summers ago, Fred and I went exploring the Kootenay's - a mountainous region of eastern BC, rich in history and old mining ghost towns. Sandon is one such ghost town. It is fairly easy to find and a good number of buildings still exist, unlike many of BC's other ghost towns. Sandon has become the final destination for a number of old Vancouver Transit buses. Not really sure why they are there--but they were definately an odd and intriguing find. I never was very happy with how most of my shots that day turned out, but I did spend some time today messing with this one in PS. I was trying to impart a mood to this shot reminiscent of how I felt that day walking amongst all the ghostly remains of what once a vibrant and booming town.

Image was cropped on the right to remove some of the bus which had been exagerated by the wide angle lens I used. Adjustments were made in PS, I desaturated the image, applied Dave's Etheral Glow and finally Feivel's Gothic Glow filter effects. I wasn't happy with the building to the rear of the buses, so I burned it in to make its very colorful presence less noticable. Image was resized and sharpened before posting.

Comments and feedback, especially on the post processing, are always appreciated and welcomed.

The processing gives this a wistful mood...I remember these old transit trolleys
growing up in Vancouver. V

great title, vignetting and soft focus works very well for this image and your description

for a tip, you have some horizontal lines below the first and second caravans from the right in the shadow region that you may want to blur out. It doesnt detract the overall impression from this image though
