Rain Forest Elk

Olympic National Park, Wa

We encountered this elk while walking one of the trails in the Hoh River Valley rain forest.
We were uncomfortably close to him, which was making him nervous and so we slowly backed
away until he moved on deeper into the forest.

He's a real beauty - great to see him in the deep forest! Too bad you didn't have more light to help contend with that dark face/muzzle. V

Most of us are lucky to spot an elk. You were practically riding him. Great shot. Voted

70mm??? Hopefully there was some cropping that went on - or yes - that would be an uncomfortable moment!! Glad you had the composure to get this great shot!
