The Sgt. Major was from Georgia, I believe. He generally would only let southerners work in the S-3 Section. A really nice guy. I believe that he had been assigned to a college ROTC unit before coming to Vietnam.

Also, yes the soils lab was right outside our back door. My father (WWII Americal Div) always sent me care packages. People came to me looking for food when the mess hall had nothing good. we shared everything. Anyway, I had pizza mix and we cooked it in the soils oven. Took for ever but was it good. Sorry I spelled my name wrong in the last post.

That is Sgt Major I worked for. He was a great guy. That is also Weird Harold. I have a picture of him with a light bulb in his mouth and an electrical cord coming out of his butt. I'll see if I can find it. You were there from 1968 to 1969, I arrived in March 1969 to March 1970 so we must have crossed paths at some point. This Sgt Major I think is the one who got me E5 because he liked the way I stuck up for my guy's. Yes the pool was still there when I left. It almost too a rocket one night close but no hit. The rocket did hit the PX and PX warehouse. Lots of beer lost that night.
