I served with the Naval Support Activity in Danang, 67-68. Made daily trips to China Beach area. I saw large U.S. trucks hauling supplies, including cokes, etc. Several times I witnessed kids who would jump aboard these trucks when they were stalled in traffic, and start unloading anything they could get their hands on. They then sold it alongside the roadway to anyone wanting the goods. Kids would sneak up to a vehicle and run by snatching sunglasses off GI's in vehicles as well as watches, etc. One GI walking along the road was surrounded by about six kids asking him questions to distract him from realizing his wallet was being lifted until he reached to get it at the BX.

Thank you. I have a brother who seved in Vietnam company 101 in 1967 68. First time I have done any research on this. Hoping I might come across his picture. However, I really enjoyed the pictures I have found here.

Wow look at those Coke cans I remember when they changed. The Bud cans look almost the same.

Saw something similar in Albania but this just shows that somebody is always trying to make a buck whatever the political climate
