Combat Over Iraq, part II


I am currently back home in the US. These are some of the images so far of this latest deployment. More as time permits.

I can't possibly write to everyone to express my appreciation for your comments. Know that my wife cries everytime she reads them. My parents and kids read them. Other folks I served with read them with their families. I'll say thanks for them for your support.

Are you all planing on a crusie book, I would love to buy one?
I remember when we first put the big bat on the inside of the V-tails
which was the same size on the ones we had on the A-6. We were told to
take them down because they were too big, and many years later they look even
better. I like to think that I am one of the oldests active duty bats not in age but time with the unit. "WESTPAC 85-86, 95-96, 97, & 99) I spent 87 thur 91 on the boat and in the sand with the Green Knights.

Just had to comment on all the gallery pictures. They are fantastic - great composition on so many of them. Being a camera buff of sorts I can really appreciate what you have done here. Hope you put together some sort of coffee table book because the pictures are definitely worthy. Again some great shots!!

Some great pictures. You really have a talent with a camera....maybe something to think about doing when you leave the Marines. My Dad flew the first jet fighters in the RAF but sadly never had a hand free for the camera! I spent several years in the Airborne forces in the UK and now live in Dubai with my wife and daughter. You must be very proud of your service to your country and the free world. Thanks for sharing this brief insight.

Great pics. I also use the Canon 10D. Thanks for all you do. My son is leaving for the area tomorrow. He is an Air Force Survival Specialist. I don't know if you Marines use the AF guys but they know alot about helping you get back safe. I know he'll have a lot to do with all personel in the skys for a few months and will be giving out a lot of training and helping with rescues. I certainly hope neither of you needs the other. Stay Safe!

Can't say enough how uplifting these pics are. Rob is my stepbrother and me and Diane are extremely proud of what he's doing in support of our country. As a former Marine myself it does make a difference to have family, friends and country support your efforts during wartime. Me and Diane pray for Rob and all the troops everday. We need to do everything possible to make sure GWB gets re-elected to ensure all that has been accomplished will not go for naught. Keep up the good work Rob !!! Semper Fi

Just found your site, pictures are breath taking, glad you are home safe. It brings me great comfort and pride to know there are people like you and the other men and women that you serve with over there fighting to keep us safe. My little girl has just been posted over there. She's 18 and 5" and keeps telling us that she isn't little any more but she looks like a china doll in her dress uniform. She is filled with such pride to be serving her country and we are filled with such pride in her and all of you who chose to serve.I am nearly overcome with fear for her safety despite the fact she has two uncles (both marrines - Stephie is army) who have promised to do there best to keep an eye on her. Stephie says even half way around the world she can't escape from family. She doesnt know yet that is what the military is all about - family-. Those who serve and the poeple that love them, we are all a big family. So thank you all who are over there helping to keep each other safe. Love you and will pray for you! The Mom

Great flicks! Being a Vietnam vet I do understand a bit about getting shot at and being away from loved ones. All you guys and gals are doing a great job despite what the media left is trying to get across to the country. I pray for you people every night and have one idea that probably isn't the best Christian idea, but nevertheless I still feel like you aren't killing enough of 'em and not doing it fast enough. I do realize it's a different war than any we've ever fought and it will always be in our future. Countries loves to hate America while putting their hand out for our benefits to their country. I don't think fire fights are needed in many cases, just a couple of F16's, loaded, and then emptied would work well. If the enemy hides in a religious area, the religious area becomes "totally sand." I have an idea that the President, being a good ole Texas boy, would handle the war entirely different if the country would let him get away with it. However, we must be politically correct in our killing policies. We wouldn't want to offend the policically correct left. My prayer is that every fighting man and woman comes back to our country safely and without harm. If that means a few civilians have to die in the process, so be it. When you get over 3,000 dead, (as with 911) then we'll start counting. For every head that is cut off, 5 from the prisioners in Cuba would have the same done and the the body and head would be returned to their country wrapped in pig blood soaked, pig skin. When all the prisioners were gone, the B52's, B1's and F16 would finish the job until the place was glass. I don't mean to sound harsh but these people only understand violence and we keep pussy footing around. We need to go for the throat. Husan doesn't need three hours to exercise, a flower garden to play with or a prayer rug to pray on. He needs to go the way a few hostages have gone already and the video sent to his buddies with a strong message. God bless you folks that are doing the best you can with what you have and what you are allowed to do. May God protect you and bring you home safely to your families. Keep up the great work and God bless Harry Truman . . . he knew how to stop a way and save American lives.

When I look at my little boys (ages 4 and 5) sleeping in their beds at night, I know I have you and your comrades in arms to thank that they can sleep peacefully without a worry. There are not enough words to describe the kind of gratitude and pride I feel at knowing you guys are out there doing the job for all of us back home. May God continue to bless your efforts and just know that there are so many like me in the US that will not ever be swayed by the naysayers - we know that you are our country's VERY BEST. Great pictures. I get a little pissed off when ignorant POG's or civilians call everyone in the military "soldiers". That name [and lets face it......honestly] should be reserved for people who place their boots on the ground, close with and destroy the enemy. You, my friend are what I would definitely call a fighter pilot or the ground pounder's best friend!! I've seen some pretty impressive CAS over here and there's nothing that makes a grunt's blood boil more than some nasty suppressive fire from the Spectre or a JDAM being dropped from an F-16!! I have the utmost of respect for you guys! Keep up the good work! We'll call for fire and you guys lay waste!
