View showing part of the old port of Echuca on the Murray River

We have just returned from a five day holiday in Echuca a country town in northern Victoria situated on the banks of the Murray and Campaspe rivers.
The Murray River is the longest navigable river in the world, after the Amazon and Nile. The total length is 2530k (1572m) and spans three states.
By the 1870s Echuca had risen to prominence as Australia's largest inland port. Now the port is home to the largest paddle steamer fleet in the world.

Excellent composition, David. And thank you for the info! I've seen the Murray and had heard of Echuca, but wasn't aware of all that. V.

This is gorgeous. And the words "the Murray River" immediately evokes memories of poems we had to learn in school in NSW! V
