This is a rare breeding bird in Scotland. Fortunately Kingfishers are now on the increase with at least one pair breeding within a mile of my home. However these birds are very susceptible to nest disturbance & being schedule 1 birds it is illegal to even attempt photography near the nest. Kingfishers are most safely photographed in winter however the low light levels at this time can make photography a real challenge, clearly this is an excuse for these crap images!
