Only 200 metres up from the beach hotels lies Kotu creek & the Kotu bridge. Adjacent to the bridge is a small open-sided building which is the meeting site for many of the Gambian Bird Guides.
The view from the bridge overlooks mangrove swamp which is good for egrets, waders & Kingfishers whilst the adjacent scrub holds Bearded Barbet, Woodpeckers, Grey & Red-billed Hornbills, Little Bee-eaters & an assortment of passerines.
The birds on the powerline are Pied Kingfishers.
