Rocky Mount

The City of Rocky Mount, NC has put forth great effort in recent years to cleanup the downtown area. Streets have fresh pavement, new curbing has been installed and a lot of attractive landscaping has been added. On a balmy April evening southbound CSX intermodal train L033-12 catches one last glimpse of sunlight as it prepares to cross Western Avenue. Hauling high priority shipments, including a large number of UPS trailers, the train is stretched out well past the Tar River Bridge and nearly to the Highway 64 overpass, a distance of almost two miles. The train’s previous operating symbol was Q173, but it still remains part of what local railfans refer to as the “southbound parade” in the late evening. Between Richmond, VA and Rocky Mount L033 will join Amtrak 91 and 53, and often a manifest of two for a convoy down the former Atlantic Coast Line Railroad's Northern Division mainline.

The southbound juice train will often join in on the southbound parade.
