Old scanned film images from a 1989 trip to Portugal. Spent much of my time in the Lisbon area (including Sintra, Ovidos, and Evora). But made it as far north as Coimbra, where Portugal's oldest university is.. The remainder of our time there was spent traveling in the south to Lagos, Faro, sagres and a beach town called Villa Nova Mil Fontes (in the Alentejo).
Unfortunately we never made it to the northern 1/3 of the country or the western county on the border with Spain.
Beyond the wonderful history and landscapes I was struck with the remarkable friendliness of the Portuguese people, which were almost shockingly friendly even in big and tourist overrun Lisbon.
While I have a pretty limited travel budget and there are still many new places on the world that I yet to see, including much of Europe, returning to Portugal seems more attractive than visiting most new places.
