These may be created from photographs but one still needs skill in photoshop & having ability to paint is definitely a plus.

All rules are meant for convenience and freedom to grow..... if the Rule is becoming the prison then its time to break the rule..thats what genius and creativity is all about...
Yes! filters can destroy in the hands of a novice but so can a camera ruin a great visual...doesnt mean we throw away the baby with the bathwater!... scalpels and knives are dangerous inthe hands of children but in the hands of a doctor it will mostly be life giving (and face saving)!!
And if filters were so useless.. companies did not have to spend millions of dollars in salaries to its staff to create them
In the hands of a true artist everything is a tool... way to go phyllis

WOW.. a splendid gallery with a very creative use of Filters and processes... goes to prove " its always the man/woman behind the machine"... You surely have the inner eye of the heart to "see" and visualise the result where most would just'look' at a raw picture with the mind!... Keep up the good work Phyllis!.. excellent showcase of Photographic art .

I like most of the images presented here including your use of PS filters! I don't usually comment on other reviewers' comments, but I'd say ignore Guest ("Your photography...)" who was obviouly feeling a little insecure to make that remark!

Of course, it is possible to take a good photograph and destroy it in PhotoShop. However, I certainly don’t see that happening here. IMO this is very nice work and certainly not amateurish in any sense.

To "Guest": You obviously didn't read the title of the encompassing gallery--Photo Art. Most of these are not even my photos, but rather photos from others, artified digitally with their permission. I do have many pure photography galleries here at Pbase, none of which are artified with Photoshop. Check them out if you're looking for my photos. These, on the other hand, are examples of photo art, an entirely different animal. :)

Your photography wouldn't be too bad if you didn't destroy it with bad Photoshop filters. Always the mark of a true amateur.
