Gallery Seventy Seven: Communication on the go

Wherever I now travel, I see cellular phones in use in every kind of situation. The relationship between the people on the phone and the context around them can tell a story, often through incongruous behavior. In this gallery, which I begin with images shot in New York City, and will continue to build as I travel, I tell the story of people who are often multi-tasking, carrying on conversations with invisible people while simultaneously navigating the challenges of urban living. Twenty years ago, mobile telephones were in the hands of a privileged few. Today, that industry has changed the nature of life itself. Almost everyone uses them, a fact that gives travel photographers opportunities to tell many kinds of stories by making images usually rich in human values and often incongruous in nature.

I present this gallery, as usual, in "blog" style. A large thumbnail is displayed for each image, along with a caption explaining how I intended to express my ideas. If you click on the large thumbnail, you can see it in its full size, as well as leave comments and read the comments of others. I hope you will be able to participate in the dialogue. I welcome your comments, suggestions, ideas, and questions, and will be delighted to respond.
