Something Different From Me

Ha - bet you thought I was just going to post images from my driveway of the ever changing weather this Winter! Surprise. This is a Short-eared Owl and they visit my area during the Winter. As you can see through there is no snow present because it was 51F (~11C) with rain most of the morning that melted our snow again.
I know there is noise in the image but shooting a brown object on a brown background right around sunset means I had to use a high ISO to get anything. In this case ISO 1100 with my old (non VR) telephoto lens. I may play around with some trial noise reduction software today to see what they can do.
By the way, the bird was sitting on the side of the road on this post and never flinched when a vehicle drove by.

Well, if you are going to move out of your driveway you might as well find a cool bird to photograph. Nice shot.

Cool find, Patti. I might try cropping this a bit to remove the bit of horizon from the top and put more emphasis on the owl. Keep being different!

Well done, Patti! Lovely rim-lighting effect.
We frequently hear hoots and barks of owls in the evening,
but I have never seen one perched in the open like this. How I wish!

Great find! What is going on with the lack of snow in your area? Northern NY state usually has quite a bit by now :)
