Here is a shot that gives some scale to the size of a Little Egret who has been visiting our area. As you can here with two Mallards , its much smaller than the Greater Egrets and is similar in size to Snowy Egrets. It also looks a lot like a Snowy Egret except for the lores , breast feathers, darker legs and head plumes during breeding season ( this bird did have said plumes the first time it was found and they broke of shortly after). A very rare visitor from Europe.......hope it sticks around although its been pretty hard to find again recently unless your up at the crack of dawn
