Of course I could not help modifying a brand new ring as soon as I got it.
A 49mm filter thread was added to the inside by turning a recess into the rear of the adapter
and inserting a turned down 49mm filter ring.

The ring now fits either 55mm and 49mm threaded lenses without a step down ring.
