Completely rebuilt in 2008 after damaged by the 1989 earthquake, the California Academy of Science is once again the nation's premier science museum.
Located in the Golden Gate Park across from the rebuilt de Young Museum, it contains a planetarium, an aquarium, and a natural history museum under one roof.
Designed by architect Renzo Piano for environmental sustainability, it features natural lighting, solar power and a living roof.
