The Porta de Santiago is the only surviving remain the Portuguese fortress A Famosa.
Originally built in 1511 and later renovated by the Dutch in 1670.
In 2008, it and the St. Paul's Church on top of the hill were designated by UNESCO as part of the Malacca's World Heritage Site.
