Museum Island

Museumsinsel
Five museums, closely located on the northern tip of an island on the Spree River, hold the Prussian arts collections dating from ancient to 1900. Together with the Berlin Cathedral, they were all built in the 19th to early 20th century. Damaged during WW2 and neglected by the communists DDR, the entire area has bounced back to be an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
