Blue Pitta

Khao Yai National Park

An amazing creature indeed. Master of hiding in the interior of the forest floor.
People come from far and near to see this bird. In the dry season a number of birds are attracted
to the wet forest floor at the back of some washing facilities by the campground in Khao Yai National Park. There are some birds that are easily seen there such as Orange-headed Thrush, Siberian Blue Robin and White-rumped Shama. This bird is more irruptive in behavior and one has to have a lot of patience for a short visit by the King itself. I put myself in a blind and waited.
This was my reward.

Beautiful shot! the bird is similar to our Pittas, but they are definitely not that colour. Great result after the wait. Well done.

Those front markings must make it hard to see in dim lighting - thanks for sharing.
