We arrived in Moab at 1 PM and checked in to the Rustic Inn. The room was nice if a little rough around the edges. It had a full sized refrigerator with a freezer – which was planned so we could freeze water for our hikes. Peter was tired from the drive and restless night before so he napped a bit while Sharon enjoyed the small pool all to herself, reading and swimming to stay cool in the 100° heat. Peter roused himself after an hour or so for a dip in the pool.

Then it was off to the market for more water and supplies for two nights camping in The Needles District. We bought most of what we needed. Especially important were the gallon jugs of water. We cracked the caps and loaded the freezer with the jugs. We wanted them frozen so we’d have some cold storage while camped at Needles for two nights. Once the provisions were secure we left for an early 5 PM dinner before our hike to Delicate Arch for sunset and the full moon rising right after.

We could’ve walked to Sabaku for our sushi but we drove so we could leave for our hike right after dinner since we thought we might be cutting it close. We stuck with water and jasmine iced tea and ordered some miso soup followed by a Fiery Furnace roll, Colorado Roll and a Maze Roll. They were all excellent quality and delicious. Also tried their homemade wasabi - wow! It was fun to try some sushi with a southwestern flair…a perfect light meal before our hike. Sorry... we ate it before remembering to take pictures.
