Crane

Helsinki, Suomenlinna

https://www.suomenlinna.fi/en/visitor/sights/dry-dock/

I have visited this scene every few years:
first in August 2005: http://www.pbase.com/pekkal/image/48327563
then, September 2006 http://www.pbase.com/pekkal/image/66603535
a year later in September 2007: http://www.pbase.com/pekkal/image/86047179
and the last time 7½ years later in February 2015: http://www.pbase.com/image/159139821
...
Last +1, on June 3, 2021 (note that the crane has lost its cabin): https://pbase.com/pekkal/image/171689166
Last +2, on May 24: https://pbase.com/pekkal/image/172633710

If there is anything to learn from these photos it is focus: getting the whole crane in photo flattens it, zooming to the hook & cabin works better?

I still am struck by this photo.
In the 2005 and 2007 photos of this scene, the hook is illuminated more than the crane, perhaps because of clouds. The brighter hook looks even closer, and the darker crane looks even more distant, emphasizing the depth and large scale of the scene. So, if you happen to photograph this scene again, then I request that you arrange the illumination to make the hook light and near, and the crane relatively dark (but light enough that the details can be seen), all while using portrait orientation. That is, like the 2005 photo but continuing a bit farther upward.
Well, I am asking for a lot, but at least I won't ask that you have the crane painted.

Thank you for your comments! I'll try the portrait orientation next summer. The crane is located at a decommissioned shipyard which is currently a guest harbor for boats.

I like the shapes, colors, feeling of space, resolution, and machinery details. I wonder whether portrait orientation would have worked as well. Is this crane at a port?
