This is a male Desert Spiny Lizard (Sceloporus magister) that was living in our front yard.
He had been habituated and was very tolerant of close encounters with us.
I could get him to eat insects from my hand and had him trained to scamper across the yard for feeding.
We named him "Feisty" because he had a habit of trying to bite toes and fingers during feeding time.
Unfortunately, Feisty was run over while on the street in front of our house. We will have to try to
habituate another, because it is just so cool to see a beautiful lizard like this up close.
