(Black and) White Pocket III

Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, Coconino County, Arizona view map

Somehow the color shots from this area don't seem to do it as much justice as b&w.
Try as I might I am not able to get the same color result as I remember.
This is a merge of three exposures for HDR and conversion to b&w in PS.

Beautiful visual exposition of the layering of sedimentary rook and the subsequent folding and twisting. Great B&W photo, Sam. Vote.

The monochrome really allows the patterns and lines to emerge and sing out! I like how the roundish cloud shapes contrast with the linear patterns in the rock.

Good choice of tones to emphasize the patterns and textures. Nice with the brooding sky in the background. "V"

This curve just leads you into the image and there is so much to dwell on once there.

excellent image

I tend to be distracted by color, so the B&W allows me to pay attention to the detail, which is excellent here. V.
