Buckingham Palace is the London home and nominally the primary residence of Queen Elizabeth II. It was first occupied as a royal residence by Queen Victoria in 1837 concurrent with her accession to the throne. The palace is built around a core private residence built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1705.
