The Collegiate Church of St. Peter at Westminster, better known as Westminster Abbey. This photo was made on the morning of May 4, just five days after the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The abbey has been the site of royal coronations since that of William the Conqueror in 1066. It has also been the site of numerous royal weddings, the most recent prior to William and Catherine being the marriage of Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth's second son, to Sarah Ferguson on July 23, 1986. On November 20, 1947, then Princess Elizabeth married Lt. Phillip Mountbatten of the Royal Navy. The Abbey is also the place of burial for many notables of British history including a large number of monarchs, literary giants such as Charles Dickens, T.S. Eliot, John Keats and Rudyard Kipling and scientists such as Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin.
