GPN-2006-000039.jpg

Launch Complex 19 was an Air Force launch pad used to test launch the Titan II intercontinental ballistic missile. When NASA embarked on the two-man Gemini project, pad 19 was modified to accommodate a manned payload at the top of the launch vehicle. The erector tilted into a vertical position to service the vehicle and the spacecraft, and then tilted down to lie horizontally for launch. (Photo courtesy of NASA.)
