Camera / Lens Technology Example

It was not very long ago that a hand-held shot at low shutter speed and high ISO was unthinkable.
Lens VR coupled with SLR low light capability and improved metering renders very pleasing results nowadays.
Camera technology such as artificial horizion avoids angular distortion.
Editing software such as Photoshop CC is the icing on the cake!

Like you said, things have come a long way in terms of what we can get away with, relative to ISO and handheld speeds. On the other hand, every time I run across an old D50 shot, I can't help thinking, "Those were 6 really good megapixels in that camera. . . ." ;-)
