In Memoriam

Following Coleen's fine letter today to the TP editor about the abandoned rookery at Audubon Park I am posting this shot taken March 23rd 2011. It was my last day there before the exodus.

You can read her letter here: http://www.nola.com/opinions/index.ssf/2011/05/look_into_why_birds_left_audub.html

After our second big storm this spring this nest was abandoned. Let's hope the rookery can recover.

Beautiful shot, Phil. I remember this couple because they were so flamboyant and so affectionate with each other. Their lores are wonderful and their breeding plumes absolutely glorious. A friend said he met you there today.

Fabulous scene, wonder what happened over there that the birds disappeared just like that... V.

Phil, this is one beautiful image! Perfect exposure and compostion!!!! The loss of the Audubon Park rookery for this year is a tragedy that should never have happened!

You made the "last shot" count. Great photo and let's hope that the birds get over whatever the problem was and return next year.
