My mom grew up in Knapp, and my dad up on Miller Hill, south of Knapp. The Knapp House was "The Knapp House" for all of the years I was growing up (we were there almost every weekend visiting my grandparents - my grandpa was Mayor for some years and owned some bits of land around the town), but I guess for many years before that it was called "Trail's End" or something like that. Sadly, it burned down a year ago or so (2010?), and sounds like it won't be rebuilt. It was a landmark for soooooo many years. The Knapp Elementary "Alumni" (all school reunion) is held every year on Memorial Day weekend and was held at The Knapp House for all of the years I can remember until in burned down. It was sad to see it go. If you would like more information about Knapp history, or who lived in the houses you have pictured, etc., please let me know. I still have wonderful relatives in Knapp and visit as often as possible, including 4 family reunions there every summer! I'm not a resident, so can't speak for them, but it seems like Knapp is a quiet little town with quiet little history, and doesn't seem to be interested in "development", which is GREAT with me - I plan to retire there and wouldn't care to see it become a commuter town (to the Twin Cities) or a tourist trap. ;-) You just can't match the natural beauty of the area - the valley & forests & farms ... I suppose I'm a little biased by a lifetime of memories there, too. Anyway, was nice to see someone interested in my favorite place on earth!

But I could be wrong -- most likely though the elementary school will be closing within 5 or so years (school district is in quite a bit of trouble and closing all the outlying schools slowly). Tony Flom has started a development of townhouses just north of the rail road tracks and they are quite nice, would be nice to see that development succeed and to see Knapp thrive, that's for sure. We moved into Menomonie as our kids got older and the price of gas rose -- driving to Menomonie twice a day was quite expensive!! After a moved, probably 18 months or so ago it had re-opened under the new name The Bar Chord Music Club --- probably what you're asking about --- I had not been in it under this new name but from the little advertising I saw regarding it they were trying to keep live bands in there every Friday & Saturday night and local bands from the area and from the Twin Cities --- I don't know how well they did or anything but when I tried to do a search on the internet for "Bar Chord Music Club Knapp, WI" I didn't find a website for that exact but I found a lot of hits off my space so I searched on my space and found the my space site for the Bar Chord Music Club and it looks like it is now closed again -- this is off that my space site: "The Bar Chord Music Club as a business is currently in transition. The partnership that was the BCMC is being dissolved and the building that was the BCMC is now being called The Knapp House. The name "Bar Chord Music Club" will belong to Rob and Leah when the sale if final. Meanwhile, we are looking for a new home for the BCMC, so we can achieve our goal of bringing live original music to Western Wisconsin. Until then we find refuge at Gar-Ker-Ki." So, I don't know how much help this will be to you but that is what I have -- the phone # for the village office is 715-665-2310 and they might be more helpful. I just called a friend of mine who lives there and she thinks the restaurant is still open. My answering machine cut you off when you were saying why you wanted the information so I hope this helps!! Interesting to see photos of the Knapp House restaurant. Have been by it a few times in the past few years during the daytime but could not tell if it was still operating. They used to have a fabulous Friday fish fry back in the 1970s. Would probably go to it again if I knew it was still going- see the sign said 're-est 2004' though. Can find no mention of it on the internet.

I found these pics through a google search looking for info on Knapp, WI. I lived in Wisconsin for awhile but never made here. What a surprise to see it online and to see what the town actually looks like. Especially since I now live in Arizona too and not far from Mesa. Interesting pictures, thanks.
