Agree with you all the way---though it is a global economy---i do not see the positive for the USA in this scenario---Clean up your mess, and pay the fines---don't let BP get away with this one!!

Pbase is not really the place for this kind of discussion is it? But just to set the record straight: I believe the damage was done by a local, American contractor who was engaged by BP (the "foreign company that has come to America and ruined the coast of the gulf of Mexico"). That "foreign company" has promised to pay the rehab bills.
This makes me sick. It is my opinion based on what I have heard that a foreign company has come to America and ruined the coast of the gulf of Mexico. When a commode is installed the cutoff valve must work. The oil company installed a cutoff valve and it did not work. I heard on a news report that twice the valves have not worked and no record of the valves working properly exists. Minus 2 plus zero equals minus 2. Not a very good record. I hope President Obama does not approve any more new drilling until we can get control of this and get a handle on the whole mess.
