The area was inhabited until 1952, when the last inhabitants moved to the new town Yeni Zelve, 2 km away.

Walking through this valley at noon, the sun was behind that one chimney, you see some windows of rooms hidden behind this steep flanks where original Christians lived during the 9th and 13th centuries hiding from the the Persian and Arab invasions.
