The Ghosts of Bodie

Bodie is a State Park located in Northern California off of Highway 395. This old ghost town contains an amazing variety of remnants left over from the days of the wild west.

Today, only about 5% of the buildings remain. However, during the peak of the Gold Rush, more than 10,000 people inhabited this town. In it's time, Bodie had a reputation as being one of the most wicked towns of the west. Street-fights, holdups and gunfights occurred on an almost daily basis.

These are exceptional iimages. A good way to portray images of Bodie is in B&W. You get a real nostalgic atmosphere from them that way.

Very picturesque. It's like people just took off from one minute to the other, leaving everything where it was. Is this guarded or not? So many things seem to stay in place, it's almost unbelievable there's no looting of any kind.
