Good heavens! He's amazing - such intensely-crimson wattles and a pose that shouts "Look how gorgeous I am, ladies!" I hope he avoids turkey-hunters so he can pass on his great genes to a lot of new babies.

Wonderful shot, Shirley.

Would you look at that! Grand ole Tom..I've never had wild turkey. I'm sure he would be a gamey taste. I wouldn't even attempt to cook this fella. He looks better as is. goble, goble... Very sharp.

Hi Jeff, I think I was all of 30 feet max! He had two ladies teasing him. This was a small little strip of trees they were in. The girls kept coming out of the trees into the open. Probably as close as 10 feet from me. I was hoping he would come out for a nice clear shot at him. I had some bread I tossed to the girls even. They would go in, and just up to his face and then scurry away out in the open. Over and over. LOL He had nothing on his mind but those two ladies. I don't even think he cared about me at all!

Shirley, This is a shot I hope to get myself, with Spring Turkey season opening here in PA this coming Saturday, the gobblers are going nuts around here. This one looks to be a mature Tom, judging by his size and his "beard" length. Nice capture...how far away were you to get the shot? Normally, any movement will send turkeys runnin'.

I think this Tom is so big he would be tougher then a boot to eat. LOL I do think he could feed an army though. Someone that has lived around here in Minnesota a lot longer then me, said that he is one of the biggest Tom's he had ever seen. He knew just the guy I was talking about when I told him where I saw him. I can see why he could have been our National bird instead of the Eagle. After all, his head is red, white and blue! LOL It was the first time I saw a Tom puffed up in the wild. See that hair looking feathers hanging down on his chest? That is how you can tell the toms from the hens all year round. The hens dont have the chest hair. HA!

Hmmm... Mark the spot and come back before christmas/thanksgiving. Great shoot and nicly framed. I don't think any one can love a turkey other than on the table with cranberry sauce.

Great shot, perfect position through the branches. He is one fine fellow!

He has every right to be proud of that waddle. That is one nice looking Tom! We have flocks of literally 100 hens that run around in the field behind the house, but I've never seen their Tom. Truly an amazing capture Shirley.

This is more than red, this is ultra red! Look at this proud guy, sure he thinks he's the most elegant turkey in the world, and he is! Very good catch, Shirley. endika

Willya look at that wattle! And that tail looks like a giant mushroom. I wish that little tree wasn't in the way, but it just shows this was no zoo ;-) I really like it, Shirley.

He is lucky there is not ThanksGiving Day now and you shot with camera only. Really nice shot of a wonderful bird.

Better be careful their Shirley - looks like that gobbler has got his eye on you. Congrats on getting in so close - were you laying down - really like the perspective!

Shirley, I have never said that a turkey is beautiful, but this one certainly is. You and that E300 produce remarkable images. I have always been sorry I did not keep mine.
I do not intend to say that the camera is the key to your images but the E300 has a certain quality that I like and the E500 hundred does not have it. I have not determined yet if the E3 has it. But it has other qualities that make it very worthwhile.
