This is what is left of a church after the 20 foot storm surge from the winds of hurricane Katrina swept over the land in Pearlington Mississippi.

Kudos to you for this one, Richard! The lighting perfectly outlines those narrow Gothic-style windows. But the ruined interior seems so bleak. The trio sitting in the doorway adds a touch of life - the world goes on, even though for this church it has stopped moving.

Excellent in every way!

Wow! lemme say it again...Wow! the lighting is just right and the B&W treatmnt is perfect. The people sitting outside on the porch completes this fabulous scene. Very very nice.

I know that many churches are still sending crews to help restore the communities of Pearlington and Gulf Port Mississippi
They were both devastated and the people of Mississippi are a hardy and proud group, so you did not hear them complain, but you surly felt their gratitude. Adjacent to this church is its fellowship hall where all the volunteers (us) ate the free lunch that this church and the community insisted on providing the volunteers.
The town fire dept was the only government left and our group donated money so they could buy fuel for the fire trucks. We also donated computers.

What a great southern church this was in its day. Look at the wonderful long windows This is a very moving photo. I wonder if you went down there if you would find much changed?

I think the b&w treatment is perfect for this image, its an image that says more than just what material positions were lost, but some communities too.
