Sleep - Colin
by

Andy Warhol: "...sleep was becoming pretty obsolete, so I decided I'd better quickly do a movie of a person sleeping....."

The premiere of Sleep took place on January 17, 1964 at the Grammercy Arts Theater - a benefit screening for the Film-Makers' Cooperative.
According to the New York Post, the screening was attended by only nine people - two of whom left during the first hour

This is pretty freaky, but I like it. The selective saturation works well.

I've held off commenting on this as I wasn't sure what to say. I'm still not sure what to say, except that it is well thought-out and well-executed. Alistair

Colin,

well, in that context, it's not eclectic at all!

Extremely good, as I've already stated.

Best, Claus.

Thanks for the comments!
Eclectic, yes maybe :-) After Alistair's brilliant J-L David modern reconstruction and Endika's fantastic Dali-esq image, I wanted to find something different. It’s the only movie I know that is "famous" but almost nobody has seen it and also the only one where nothing moves.
Removed the offending “AV” cyan blob too.

Very thoughtful. The inversion of the "subject's" face really pulls you right into the picture. Kind of cool that the skin and face in the monitor look slightly "angelic" while the "real" subject looks ... real. The camera angle and posture is very nicely set - it has that slightly animated/ robotic look to it. The story is an interesting sidelight and ties it to the theme - but your picture all by itself is better. brent

Extremely good picture, Colin. The tripod with the Video cam adds to the scene. The cyan square disturbs, though.

My winner here, maybe. It's a little bit eclectic, but what the heck...

I was trying to show the process of how the movie might be made today so I had a live video feed from the video camera to the TV. I kind of like the way you get two distinct views of the subject, might play with this concept some more (subject to cooperation of the subject!)

Nope.....now I GET it! ;-)

Thanks for the education as the title of the movie is only vaguely familiar. I shall look it up..........Is the TV playing the Warhol movie? Cool idea Colin.
