That beam of light is what makes this photo. Very well done.

Don't know why but this reminds me of Nepal. That little beam of sun is so nice.

Beam me down, Scottie! (For any old Star Trek fans.) This is a superb treatment of a magical setting. I expect to see a unicorn come bounding into the frame. A winner in my book.

beautiful. the ferns, the trees and the spectacular light -- what a combo!

Thanks again for the comments. I've put the location on now, Its a woodland along the ridge of a hill about 6 miles south east of Basingstoke. Its one of the few woodlands in the area that isn't coppiced so has some good sized mature trees.

Great light effect ! Those very detailed shots are a nightmare to keep the 200k size. Lovely place !

100% agreed with Miro!
Great atmosphere of exactly that you have said in the title, I can smell it. I would like to have a forest like this near home. endika

I like this very much, Colin. Very nice symmetry. The light of Gandalf from the shadows. The forest seems quite old, where did you shoot? Viorel

You do very fine, as a novice.;-) I'm novice too, well in digital (1,5 years). I can remember Ilford HP4 and HP5 (bathroom work) and Kodachrome Professional. Today is much easier and thousand times cheaper.

Oops, I forgot to say thanks for your very kind comments.
I don't mind admitting I'm a novice with b&w conversion, time to search the forum to see what other people do!

Shot in Colour, developed the RAW then played around with the mixer in CS2. I've plonked the colour version in the originals gallery

Light beam from heaven. And I really mean that, you have a great image here. Now I must go find me one. I love the ferns. Must be a small patch that gets very little light but the light it does gets is beautiful. Did you shot this image using the in camera BW mode or did you convert it to BW with PP software?
