Point Clark Lighthouse

This lighthouse, is located on Lake Huron 35 kilometers north of Goderich, was built between 1855 and 1859. It commemorates the vital role of lighthouses in navigation on the Great Lakes. The 87-foot limestone tower topped by a 12-sided lantern framed in cast iron is typical of the six “Imperial” towers built in the region, a lighthouse style rarely seen elsewhere in Canada.

nice, crisp colors on this, and i like the treatment, shooting through the tree; it prevents boredom and it also suggests the height of the lighthouse. nicely done.

Thanks, Marc! The lighthouse must have had a recent coat of paint...but I would hate to be the guy with the paintbrush. :-)

Very nice Blayne! You know what I love about it is the fact that they had to go through all the work to paint those lovely limestone bricks/stones. I wonder how often that paint has to be touched up and how many coats of paint this lighthouse has seen in its 150 years. Thanks for the history and good photo!
